Kevin Tubb lived in Austin Texas for twenty years. He
grew up around musicians that were
living there at the time. Kevin became friends and was
influenced by local musicians such as Joe Ely, Townes Van
Zandt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, John Inmon and many more. He
was given his first guitar by Gary P. Nunn. Kevin is
still friends with many of them today.
Kevin
has recently gone back to Austin to record a CD of
all original songs
with some amazing players such as John Inmon, Cindy Cashdollar,
Glen Fukenaga, Paul Pearcy, and Lloyd Maines. John Inmon (producer and guitar) played guitar
with J.J. Walker for 20
years and has worked with David Grisman, Peter
Rowan and many more. Cindy Cashdollar (steel guitars,
slide guitars) has played with the likes of
Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and the list
goes on. Glen Fukenaga and Paul Pearcy
(bass and drums) played on the
Dixie Chics 5 Grammy winning album entitled 'Home'.
Lloyd Maines (pedal steel) has performed on too many
projects and with too many great players to name. There's a lot of talent on his CD to
say the least. Kevin has also opened for Junior
Brown, The Flatlanders, Sam and Dave, Flock of
Seagulls, Split Enzs, and others.
Kevin
released 2 albums in the early 80’s and 2 recent CD's.
Since he moved to Madison in 1996 he formed a band
called the Welldiggers, an acoustic
quartet that performed his original music as well as other
texas musicians works.
Kevin performs an annual tribute to Bob Dylan on his
birthday and it will be the 6th year in 2006.
Kevin’s current project is called Kevin Tubb and the
Longhorn 4 and will feature his own writings as well as
some other Texas musicians works. 'Old School Austin Country' would probably be a good description
for his latest band. Kevin is joined by
fellow musicians Jim Lottridge (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Gary Gomez (bass), and Zac Roberts (fiddle) to form the
Longhorn 4.
Kevin is also an author and accomplished Chef. To find out more about his 'Eldorado Grill' cookbook, click here.
